What is the Women of Distinction Awards Dinner?
The Women of Distinction Awards Dinner is an event sponsored by Girl Scouts of Tulip Trace Council, which offers recognition to women within our council communities. These honorees are women who, as representatives of a diverse spectrum of professional and personal accomplishments, are stellar role models for today’s girls.
Who is a Woman of Distinction?
Women of Distinction represent the diversity of leadership in our service area and promote inclusion and opportunity for girls and women.
The Qualities of a Woman of Distinction
Presently resides or works in the counties served by Tulip Trace Council – Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Greene, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence, Morgan, Monroe, Orange, Owen, Scott, Sullivan
Has made a meaningful difference in south central Indiana or made the world a better place
Has made significant advances in her chosen field or major impact in the life of her community
Represents one or more of our initiatives: diversity, wellness, finding your voice, community service, girls to women, math, science, technology & environment
Has experienced Girl Scouting first hand as a girl or an adult volunteer.
The Role of a Woman of Distinction
Support – each woman and/or her organization will be encouraged to support the event.
Attend – each woman is expected to attend the dinner on November 16, 2007 in Bloomington, Indiana and give a 2-3 minute acceptance speech.
Share – each woman is asked to share the names of five individuals or organizations that are likely to sponsor the event.
Advise – each woman may be asked to share her advice and biography with troops, county or council events; awardees names may also be used in event promotional materials.
Participate – each woman is encouraged to strengthen her partnership with Girl Scouts of Tulip Trace Council through participating in events, other opportunities, advocacy, volunteering and extending our outreach to every girl everywhere.
