Girls - How to Join
Do you think Girl Scouts is just camp and cookies? Think again. Girl Scouts is a place where today's girls can explore everything from creative arts and careers to sports, technology, travel and leadership activities. Best of all, Girl Scouts offers a fun and supportive environment where girls can be who they want to be.
Are you interested in learning a sport, sampling the arts, preparing for a career, or pitching a tent? Do you dream of publishing stories, traveling, or speaking on behalf of girls? In Girl Scouting, you can do it all! Girls ages 5-17 can join as girl members. It's never too late to join in the fun.
Any girl who is between the ages of 5 and 17 can become a Girl Scout by completing a registration form and accepting the Girl Scout Promise and Law. However, you will need your parent or guardian's permission. There is an annual membership fee of $10, but no girl will be denied membership in the Girl Scouts for financial reasons. Many girls belong to troops, while others join as individuals. The choice is yours. Click on About Us to learn more about Girl Scout and the Girl Scouts of Tulip Trace Council.
Many Ways to Be a Girl Scout
A girl can be a Girl Scout in many different ways. She can:
- Register individually and get regular updates by mail on council-wide events and opportunities.
- Sign up for Girl Scout Summer Programs. Many service units offer summer program opportunities for girls.
- Join a troop/group with a group of girls and a couple of adults in your area.
Attend a drop-in site at a community or housing center. There are several Girl Scout groups hosted by community based organizations to provide Girl Scouting to girls on an as-needed basis.
