Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA)

"Come right over," said

Three Girl Scouts in 1950
Juliette Gordon Low to
her cousin, "I have something for the girls of Savannah, and all the country and we're going to start tonight."

Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls from Savannah, Georgia on March 12, 1912, for a local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to
develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the

goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars and studied first aid.

Today Girl Scouts is the preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives - like strong values, social conscience and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Girl Scouts of Tulip Trace Council, Inc.

Girl Scouts of Tulip Trace Council, an independent not-for-profit organization is one of 315 local councils chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA to develop, manage and maintain Girl Scouts in a specific geographical region. Tulip Trace Council, in partnership with adult volunteers, serves nearly 3000 girls ages 4-17 and 1500 adult volunteers in 14 south central Indiana counties. The council jurisdiction is comprised of all of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Greene, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Lawrence, Monroe, Orange, Owen, Scott and Sullivan counties and parts of Morgan and Johnson counties. The council was chartered in 1962. Guided by a volunteer board of directors, the council is regularly evaluated by its membership and GSUSA to assure that girls receive the highest quality program.

Tulip Trace Council owns and/or operates properties which offer challenging program opportunities for girls and adults.
